ABBYY, a provider of document recognition, capture, and linguistic technologies and services, has announced ABBYY Business Card Reader 2.0 for Android. The product captures and manages contact data from business cards in 20 languages.

The latest version also includes CardHolder, a searchable digital archive for the captured business cards. Business Card Reader for Android enables users to share images and data of recognized business cards instantly via e-mail or SMS.

Android users can benefit from the CardHolder to upload, recognize and store images of business cards and transfer the data into the device’s address book, if necessary. The app allows the user to arrange archived images of the recognized cards into groups for easier search and sorting. Contact data from the stored images is available for making calls, sending e-mails or text messages, looking up a street address, or following a web link. The latest version also helps back up all contacts and offer simplified export of data to various contact managers such as Microsoft Outlook.

“This new version brings an optimal set of functions for comfortable yet efficient work with business cards, making ABBYY Business Card Reader for Android suitable for corporate use as well”, commented Olga Tolstunova, sales and marketing director of mobile products at ABBYY. “When the program is integrated with a corporate CRM system, users working outside the office can capture new contacts on the go and make them available to corporate databases, and their business associates, with the touch of a button.”

ABBYY Business Card Reader 2.0 for Android is available via the Google Play store. The app supports devices running Android 2.2 or later. A lit version is also available.
