Accusoft, provider of document recognition and imaging solutions, has announced ScanFix Xpress v7 software development toolkit (SDK).

The latest release offers enhanced image cleanup and automated image processing and is designed to help developers create applications with scanning, forms processing, OCR/ICR and workflow capabilities.

ScanFix Xpress delivers newly enhanced cleanup operations requiring less code to be written. Developers can reduce testing time and achieve improved images with decreased complexity of choosing the appropriate document cleanup settings. ScanFix Xpress enables software developers to create archive applications to utilize less space to house images when they are cleaned up.

"ScanFix Xpress is ideal for ISVs, service bureaus and enterprises that need post-scan image processing to improve content recognition," said Tom Setzer, Director of Recognition for Accusoft. "The new automated features enable developers building archival systems or content management systems to produce cleaner, better images with little or no operator intervention to perform the image processing."

Organizations that create forms processing, indexing and other capture solutions to improve recognition rates with document image processing functions do not require specific settings with ScanFix Xpress. A single setting fits all for images. For instance, documents are automatically rotated to an upright orientation.

ScanFix Xpress benefits enterprises building web services in the Cloud by enabling processing of their images in the Cloud. Companies building a wireless scanner, for example, to upload content to a user configured web service, are now able to complete their image processing in the Cloud.

Some of the new automatic operations in ScanFix Xpress are: adjustment of brightness and contrast on color and grayscale images, removal of hole punch marks on bitonal images, despeckling bitonal images, correction of inverse text, and smoothing backgrounds of color and grayscale images.
